I'm home sick today, and therefore susceptible to silly things. Below is a random video breaking down three basic "Dominican" dances: merengue, bachata and perico ripiao.
I like how the gal quickly differenciates between the rhythms, but how in the world do you give "dance" lessons without showing the whole body? The whole difference between dancing these three styles happens from the hips down (especially the little "brinquito," the hop typical to bachata). Anyway, enjoy while I go to drink more Nyquil.
Since when are merengue and "perico ripia'o"--which is merengue itself, and at the basic level, just stripped down in terms of the number of instruments involved, compared to more "mainstream" merengue--danced to differently? Maybe I've been under a rock...Anyway, she is a cutie, though.

this is muy cute. definitely doesn't seem like the video is meant to be instructional or even much of a demonstration. more like an inside joke, i think. but muy cute.
get well soon --
